RediBreeze™ Oral Irrigators

Having used several of the battery operated jets, which all quit some sooner than others, dealing with the lack of battery jet power, cleaning it, I had enough and decided to try water power. I LOVE this item! After using this water jet, I could never go back to battery operated again. Even for travel, I now use the hand pump kind, which still gets the job done in a crunch. Not only does the Redibreeze get the job done fast, frees you from the constant battery changes, you are in control how warm, cool, hard, gentle you need the water to be, and you only have change or clean the piks.

I had some concerns in considering water power. First having installed an electric hot water heater, wasn't sure if the water would keep the temp warm or get cold all of a sudden, but that was not a problem as you can really open up the water pressure to keep temp where you need it. Also, planning to renovate the bath in the future and have the old sink, you know the sea shell shape(ugh)along with the original faucet and had read complaints about the jet adapter fittings not working well. This also was not a problem. I took it out of the box and screwed it on and was ready to go in minutes! The only thing I miss is being able to add a little mouthwash to the water, but also have the original electric waterpik if needed. I would recommend this to anyone who is tired of the battery roller coaster!

The fitting that came in the kit didn't fit my sink, but I was able to pick one up at the hardware store and install myself. The irrigator works great, I'm happy with this product.

Interesting contraption, and very helpful as I don't have to floss much at all now. However the valve that connects to your faucet adds about two inches to it, and if your sink/faucet height is short like mine; where it is just comfortable to wash your hands under, you can forget about being able to do it with ease anymore. I may have to start washing my hands in my kitchen sink as it is now more cumbersome with the tip of the faucet closer to the base of the sink bowl. The device works great for irrigating the mouth and gums though!

I keep the head on the tube so have no issues with on/off (it was a very snug fit). This irrigator works like a charm and is so convenient. Thanks for a great product!!

After less than a year of use, I started getting spraying around the selection lever. I thought that a gasket had shifted position. While trying to reposition the lever with the my fingers, it popped right out. There doesn't seem to be any way to re-secure the lever, which leaves the unit in a completely non-functional state. I expected better. Even Waterpiks last longer than that.

Get the New (now standard) Adapters, April 1, 2012, By Old Jon

I originally gave this product a one star review but have cancelled that. The plastic adapters that ship with the product have improper thread tolerances and do not attach securely to the valve body. The result is that the valve body suddenly comes off during use. If you call the company's 800 number you'll learn that they have made new adapters in metal as well as plastic, and will ship them to you immediately by priority mail. The new adapter (I used the metal one) works perfectly and so does the RediBreeze. No pumps to wear out, but an unlimited supply of nice warm water from your tap. And my dentist says the results are a lot better than my attempts were at flossing. I highly recommend the RediBreeze.

This is a must for any one with perio problems. And it is so much easier to use than those clunky electric water pics that sound like cement mixers and move across the sink as you use them. This really is a breeze and very easy to control with very little practice. Some of the other reviews talk about having trouble using the tubing. I find that if you remove the irrigator tip from the hose and turn it 1/8 of an inch and reinsert the tip so that it is in the perfect position the tubing will not twist and you can get a perfect angle.

After a time you know how to insert the applicator into the tubing so that it is in the perfect position every time. Getting the tap water temperature to a comfortable level is a little more of a challenge--I have learned how to hold the irrigator with one hand and adjust the faucet with the other hand. Now I can gently increase the water pressure as I use the device and keep the water at a nice warm temp. It makes sense to start at a lower pressure and pass the water through the teeth sideways to remove particles and then gently increase pressure and aim more deeply into the pockets to "exercise" the gums and clean more deeply.

Now I cannot imagine not having this device. And it is small enough to pack in a suitcase. I am planning on buying a second one for travel so I don't to remove it (see our PortableBreeze) from the faucet every time I go on a trip.

I am so glad to find an oral irrigator that takes up so little space and is so simple! I had one like this many years ago and lost it during a move. Since then, all I could find on store shelves is the WaterPik©, which is bulky, clumsy and WAY overengineered for what it does. The Redi Breeze works well, is easy to install and doesn't clutter up my sink with unnecessary paraphanalia. I took this out of the package and had it installed within 5 minutes without any tools.

I keep my Redi Breeze in my downstairs bathroom since I already have a WaterPik© in my master bath. Both this item and the WaterPik© do a similar job (I like them both), but there are a few differences:

1. RESERVOIR. The WaterPik© has a reservoir, which is nice for adding medications to the irrigation water - I like to add mouthwash or hydorgen peroxide to my irrigation water. The Redi Breeze has no reservoir and uses water straight from the faucet, which is nice where space is limited. I prefer the Redi Breeze for this feature, but still like the WaterPik's option for adding things to the reservoir.
2. PULSING ACTION. The WaterPik© has a "pulsing" action and the Redi Breeze doesn't pulse. I don't know if the pulsing actually does anything significant, but it feels kind of nice. I have no preference on this feature, since the pulsing doesn't appear to enhance the unit's cleaning ability.
3. WATER PRESSURE REGULATION. The WaterPik© automatically regulates the water pressure and the Redi Breeze requires the user to regulate the water pressure manually. Automatic regulation has it's advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of automatic regulation over manual is that it takes the guesswork out of how much pressure you need - not enough pressure will result in the product not working correctly and too much pressure will injure the gums... Redi Breeze users have to learn how much pressure is "just right". The disadvantage of automatic regulation is that sometimes the machine doesn't give enough pressure and the user cannot get more pressure if needed. I prefer the Redi Breeze for this feature.
4. WATER TEMPERATURE. Oral irrigation works best with lukewarm water, and you can regulate the temp on both the Redi Breeze and the WaterPik©. However, the WaterPik© is a little better with this feature, since you have a reservoir full of water at the perfect temp - with no chance of it changing during irrigation. Just imagine getting your Redi Breeze to the correct temp and while you are flooding your mouth, teeth and gums with warm water, someone in the next bathroom suddenly flushes! YIKES! Your are now squirting tons of high pressure, scalding HOT water into your mouth. Not fun. WaterPik©s are the winner on this feature.

Both products are quite messy at first, until the user learns not to squirt water everywhere - and this is harder than you might think. They both get your teeth and gums much MUCH cleaner than brushing and floss. They are both safer than floss, which can cut and irritate gums. They both tend to leak a little bit, but the WaterPik© leaks more than the Redi Breeze. Both products make my life much easier and I wish I could take one everywhere I go!

ONE WARNING ABOUT THE REDI BREEZE: THE ADAPTER THAT ATTACHES TO YOUR FAUCET IS FAIRLY RELIABLE, BUT CAN GET LOOSE OVER TIME. IT IS SAFEST TO DEVELOP THE HABIT OF CHECKING THE CONNECTION BEFORE EACH TREATMENT. MAKE SURE IT IS ALWAYS TIGHT! IT IS NOT FUN TO HAVE THAT LITTLE METAL CONNECTOR FLY OFF THE FAUCET UNEXPECTEDLY DURING TREATMENT. THE PIECE ITSELF IS LIKE A BULLET, AND WATER GOES EVERYWHERE WHEN IT SHOOTS OFF. THIS IS NEVER A PROBLEM AS LONG AS THE USER CONFIRMS THAT THE CONNECTION IS SOLID AND TIGHT BEFORE EACH USE.

If I had to make a choice, I would go with the Redi Breeze because it is simpler, takes up less space, and uses no electricity. I am glad to have both, because it is convenient to have one upstairs and downstairs. Both do a good job, and the differences are not monumental.

The pros of this great device have been covered amply by other reviewers. For construction and operation, I give this device 5 stars.

It gets 4 stars for a very specific reason, the company did NOT provide the 13/16 adapter in the box as stated above in the product description. When I contacted them, they promptly shipped out a replacement part, BUT when it arrived it was the EXACT SAME too-large 15/16 piece I already had, not the smaller 13/16 adapter I needed.

So, tired of waiting, I got the required adapter at my local plumbing supply store and the device works great!

NOTE: if you have a nonstandard faucet, be prepared to get adapter part(s) locally. My plumbing supply guy said he sees ALOT of these devices and recommends bringing ALL the parts of the RediBreeze in PLUS your faucet's aerator part. Since I had all the parts, he was actually able to find me an adapter that cut out the 15/16 middle connector and made the total device hanging off my faucet one-inch shorter (helpful with our shallow sink).

My gums were in terrible shape before I puchased the redi breeze,now my gums are pink again and thats after only one week. Great product!

The product is really easy and convenient to use, however ,can't replace the use of dental floss. Definitely feel confortable for the gum after using it.

We have used many "water pick" type irrigators over the years. This little gem puts them all to shame. The design is ingenious, the quality of materials used is first rate and installation is very easy. Most importantly, the thing works like a charm and it does so without the noise associated with a motorized irrigator. An added advantage is that it can be packed easily in your luggage and used while you are away from home. We are pleased with the product and recommend it highly.

Surprisingly easy to install and use, not to mention the LOW price in comparison to a free-standing unit. The pressure is terrific and I can use warm water on my temperature sensitive teeth easily, without having to fill a reservoir every time. I just brush my teeth with the warm water and then switch over to the RediBreeze. Just remember to turn off the unit before you take it out of your mouth (or plan to clean your mirror!).

Forget WaterPick! It can't hold a candle to RediBreeze (my preference) or QuickBreeze. This product is so simple and yet so effective. No batteries needed, no reservoirs to keep filling, no counterspace necessary. I even travel with it - slip it into a small plastic bag. A little messy on the first couple of uses, but you quickly learn to control it.

I used WaterPik's as a teen with braces and only now, many, many years later, have I taken up using one again. Though with far more features and attachments than before, I was disappointed with how low the pressure was from the Pik, even on the strongest setting. So I took the leap to try this RediBreeze and am thoroughly satisfied. It has all the pressure I want, possibly even as strong as those in a dentist's office, and the pressure is adjustable. My WaterPik won't go to waste since I'll use it for applying mouthwash, but my RediBreeze will be used for everything else!!! Thank you, Oral Breeze!

This product works so well! I only wish it was available in bricks & mortars stores so that people would know they have a non-electric/non-battery choice. It makes me wonder how many other household products are over-engineered like the electric Water-Pik (and other brands).

By Golly, this thing is really better than a Water-Pik! The water pressure is totally adjustable. It doesn't need electricity, and it takes up no counter space. We are very pleased with the RediBreeze. We just have to remember to switch it back to the faucet setting after the last person uses it!
